Here are 3 fears I have and how they became fears…
1. I have a fear of lots of circles or holes together. It’s called trypophobia and it grosses me out! I can’t even stand to see a bunch of watermelon seeds on the watermelon. It makes me feel as if somehow they’re in my skin and it’s just a general bad feeling I get when I see lots of circles together.
2. I have a fear of drowning in the ocean. When I was in middle and high school, I swam for my school swim team. I still am a strong swimmer. However, living in Florida there are beaches everywhere and one day while I was swimming in the beach, I was having so much fun that I swam out very far and didn’t realize it. When I turned around to see the shore I was very far away from it. I began to swim towards the shore and before I knew it, I was tired. I got scared and floated on my back for a while. The waves took me out even further. I tried to swim under the water and on top. It seemed like I was swimming in place. Finally, when I was about to give up, a man on a float came up beside me and saved me. I was crying and he hugged me. When we got to shore, my parents were super worried about me. I learned to RESPECT the ocean. And to this day… Even though I love the beach, I know it is not AT ALL like swimming in a pool. I get in the water but won’t go in past my waist.
3. I had a fear of ladybugs. This fear started as a child. A family member would play with me by scaring me with a handful of ladybugs. I always ran from him. LOL Well, a couple of years ago, I was getting ready for work and saw a lady bug on the bathroom wall. I tried to kill it by getting bug spray, standing on the toilet lid and spraying it. The lid slid, I fell and passed out on the bathroom floor. My oldest son drove me to the hospital. I have no clue how long I was on the floor before I woke up and realized what happened. I still hate ladybugs but I’m not dying over one.
